You’ve been asking for it, and we’re excited to tell you all about it!
Part workshop, part OpenHack hangout, part mini makerspace, totally awesome.
Beginning January 2017, we will be kicking off a new program called the Thumble CoLab, to supplement the mobile workshops. Once or twice each month, we will be creating a makerspace inside of the wonderful Grand Circus in Detroit. There, we will put our heads together and collaborate to design, create, and ultimately exhibit a youth-chosen project at the annual Detroit Maker Faire.
Club meetings are also a perfect time to work on a project (whatever it is, bring it!), share your ideas, do some homework, meet some like-minded makers, or just learn something new. It’s an informal learning environment with a mix of independent tinkering, teamwork, and using the buddy-system to solve problems.
Join the club for opportunities to learn about and use all of our resources, build upon material learned during previous sessions, and make something amazing with that knowledge and resources. A different topic will be workshopped at each gathering, and there will be plenty of time to collaborate and work on projects, as well as mingle amongst fellow makers and mentors.
If you have something you would like to focus on – let us know! We will try to make arrangements and find someone with skills and experience that can drop some knowledge.
