Workshops

Let us bring our mobile makerspace to you. We lead a variety of workshops that are sure to stimulate the brain!

Between 2017 and 2020, Michigan science standards for K-12 students are changing to meet next-gen standards.

Let's make sure that our students have everything that they need to rise to the challenge, through hands-on exploration, trial-and-error, and thinking outside of the box.  Join us in our journey to explore and discover new ways to provide learning opportunities for curious minds in our community.  Thumble's goal is to make quality STEM education beyond accessible, without pressure, and without limitation.  Our programs cost nothing to the student, and we can help arrange transport whenever necessary. We want to be where the students are - classrooms, libraries, community centers, homeschool co-ops, scout troupe meetings, wherever!  Workshops can go anywhere there's a road.  If you are an educator, we would love to give you an opportunity to try out some of the latest gizmos and gadgets in the tech learning industry, right in your classroom.  Our resources are specially selected, and have been designed especially for children.  Check our calendar to find offerings near you, or send us a message to book a workshop or resource. We're trying something different.  It's a community.  It's open source.  It's constantly evolving.  It's a lot of fun. Let's make something awesome.

**All are welcome to attend!  You can participate in the workshop regardless of club membership.

Let’s pick up where we left off!  Club meetings are made up of workshop/makerspace, TedEd discussion & brainstorming, and OpenHack time.  Young makers 8-18 are welcome.

    Agenda:
Topic 1: Introductions for newcomers, recap last month’s meeting, quick Q&A
Topic 2: Workshop time – action and reaction: building a Rube Goldberg machine ( https://www.rubegoldberg.com/ ).  Using things like tubes, tracks, Q-Ba Maze marble run, and our good ole’ box of bots & props – together we will build an amazing chain-reaction contraption that will do…something!
Topic 3: TED Ed discussion time
Topic 4: Makerspace time – invent something all of your own using what we’ve learned so far (independent, buddy, or group)
Topic 5: OpenHack time – work on any project of your choosing (or keep working on your creation from makerspace time)
